In creating my first web development portfolio, I designed an elegant, feminine look using watercolor images and light typography. First, I created a color scheme from my selected floral imagery and focused on the light pink color for link rollover. I then chose a calligraphy display font for the header image as well as a classic, uppercase serif for all other headings. For the body text I chose a compact, modern sans serif to be as readable and approachable as possible. I also selected a simple black social media icon set that was bold enough to be recognized but plain enough not to compete with the floral sprays.
After creating the type scale, I designed a simple, one page site mock up with four sections: About, Services, Portfolio, and Contact.
